The role of Afterhours Night Supervisor will be based at our Ulverstone residential program. The facility operates 24/7 evening and overnight shifts will be required of this position
Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
The Bridge Program is a Tasmania-wide service for help overcoming and recovering from addictions related to Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs. There are 12 residential beds and four transitional units. The centre is close to St John’s Park and is set on six acres of grounds, with a community garden, arts centre, gymnasium and commercial kitchen.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive After Hours Night Supervisor to provide after-hours support for residents of the Bridge Program.
Reporting to the Shift Co-ordinator Program, this is a casual position based in Ulverstone, Tasmania. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3.
You will successfully
  • Centre is maintained to a high level of cleanliness and tidiness; this includes client rooms and common areas.
  • Centre guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, and any breaches are reported to the AOD Specialist team immediately.
  • Clients accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed.
  • Appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high risk situations
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation.
  • Accurate, up to date client records and data is maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures.
  • Risks to clients, staff and TSA are identified and bought to the attention of the AOD Specialist team as soon as possible.
  • Service gaps are identified and recommendations for service delivery improvements are made to the Clinical Lead.

You will have
  • Certificate IV level qualification in relevant field e.g. AOD or Mental Health or related field and relevant experience.
  • A current Tasmanian Employee Working with Vulnerable People Check.
  • A current and valid First Aid Certificate.
  • A valid Tasmanian Driver licence.
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing AOD issues.
